Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman creates a sultry smoky eye for Oscar de la Renta Fall/Winter ’14 Collection at New York Fashion Week

“This look is all about dramatic eyes. I wanted the girls to be fresh-faced, easy and very natural” says Westman. “I was inspired by modern street wear, it is a look you can wear anytime. I really focused on blending in the colour for the smoky eye effect. The overall look is effortless but still sultry which worked well with Oscar de la Renta’s Fall/Winter collection.”

Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman creates a bold, floating liner for Marchesa Fall/Winter ’14 Collection at New York Fashion Week

“I wanted the models to have really youthful, beautiful illuminating skin and rosy cheeks like a Scottish country girl mixed with a maharaja princess, “ says Westman. “I like the depth and sexiness of darker colours, but I still wanted the eccentric and fun pop of colour, so for the eyes we layered either a dark blue or green liner [depending on eye colour], in the socket. I used a crème gel liner then a liquid liner to accentuate the eye and create an abstract crispness and simply enhanced the models natural lip colour to keep the focus on the eyes.”

To recreate the nail look worn by the models, celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi suggests keeping the nails short and creating a rounded square shape.

“I wanted the nail to resemble a nude skin tone so that it would complement the collection. This shade does that perfectly.” says celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi. “You only need one simple coat for a smooth finish.”

Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman creates an edgy look for Jonathan Simkhai’s Fall/Winter ’14 Collection at New York Fashion Week

Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, goes for a slightly edgy look with a dark onyx eyeshadow that has a touch of green, complemented by bare skin with a subtle flush on cheeks and a nude lip for Jonathan Simkhai’s Fall/Winter ’14 collection.

"This look is all about a sporty and edgy eye. I did a take on the smoky eye and mixed different textured shadows so that it was a little less overdone then the typical smoky eye” says Westman. “I used a crème shadow with a tint of green in it and mixed it with a black powder shadow to achieve a more transparent look that really goes with the texture of Jonathan’s clothing this season. I really wanted the eye to be bold and to complement the clothes, so I kept everything else simple.”

Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman creates a bold eye for Rag & Bone Fall/Winter ’14 Collection at New York Fashion Week

Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, focused on clean, but slightly punk look with a strongly lined bold eye, to complement the Rag & Bone Fall/Winter ’14 collection.
“I was really inspired by the French Yé Yé girls of the sixties, so this look focuses on a bold eye with luminous skin. I started with a crème liner and then went over it with a liquid liner to create a more precise line. But this is not your typical cat eye; this look is about pushing it to the edge with a more graphic liner ” says Westman. “The rag & bone girl is always someone you want to be, with a simple and achievable look that is still different and unique.”

To recreate the nail look worn by the models, celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi explains that the best thing about this look is that you can apply nude to any nail shape to keep it looking natural and simple.

“It is all about minimalistic. This look was inspired by the 1960’s, so when I thought of that time and what polish they would wear, a neutral and nude polish was the perfect fit” says Choi. “To guarantee a finished look, you should always use three coats, so that the polish looks clean and smooth.”
