MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microperfecting Primer Review

Don’t ask me why but I never got into face primers. I find I already have a lengthy makeup routine and I never really thought I needed another product to throw in there. Given that I CANNOT live without a good eyeprimer, when MAKE UP FOR EVER approached me to try out their famous HD Primer, I did what any good blogger does: jumped with joy and got to testing.

The primer I have has a golden/yellow undertone which is great for neutralizing redness, which is always a good thing. One pump is enough to cover my entire face; I like to focus on laugh lines, under eye area , eyelids and in between my brows, places prone to creasing on me ( I guess I frown a lot?). I tested out the primer with a variety on foundations in my stash, particularity foundations aimed at oily skin, as they tend to have a drier formula and are very prone to creasing and settling jn those pesky fine lines.
During application I found the foundation went on a lot smoother,  blending was easier. I found with certain foundations, I needed less product to cover my face. Those foundations that have a short blending time (think Revlon Colorstay) didn’t dry up as fast during application, allowing me to blend better and use less product.

The finish and wear was what impressed me the most. Think airbrush foundation. My skin had this smooth, dewy appearance and my pores magically vanished.  Dry foundations didn’t crease anymore, I had no issues with the foundations wearing out on me during the day. I really enjoyed seeing how this primer improved and transformed certain foundations for me.

I didn’t find the primer had any effect on my skin health, as in it I didn’t experience any clogged pores and breakouts.  I would have to say that is the main reason I held back on primers, as I know a lot of people have had bad skin reactions to the usual primer ingredients (silicones etc).

Overall, this primer is fantastic! It really really made a huge difference in the way my makeup applied, looked and performed during the day. It’s kinda hard going back to a regular foundation after experiencing that.
