A few weeks ago I was invited to go discover Biologique
, a French brand that’s been around for 35 years and for some reason I
have never heard of. (gasp!) I loved learning about the back story of the brand,
founded by Yvan, Josette and Philippe Allouche, a biologist, a physiotherapist
and a doctor that put their amazing mind together and started a this new line
skincare that has a different philosophy that what we’re used to and as I
was soon about to discover, incredible, innovative products.
I got the privilege of getting a facial with Louisa, head
trainer and esthetician for the brand, which answered my many questions about
the brand and their philosophy. Here are
a few facts about the products:
- High concentrations (over 20% in most products)
of botanical, marine and biological extracts
- No artificial fragrances to preserve integrity
of the formulas and lower the chance of allergic reactions
- Cold made formulations to preserve the structure
of active ingredients
- Highest quality of active ingredients available
- Products formulated to work synergistically with
Remodelling Face Machine for immediate, dramatic results.
The first thing that stood out to me about
the brand was the fact that they don’t steam nor do they do extractions. They
have thins entire philosophy about using cold water, whether is the way the
products are formulated and made, the treatments and facials or the way you use
the products at home. The treatment itself was amazing. I mean, I left with different skin. Louisa
did this insane massage/exfoliation with the C.V.S mix which is absolutely
phenomenal. They describe it as a “manual facelift” and I couldn’t agree
The rest of the facial involved
masks targeted for my skin (which was dehydrated and I had no idea) and a
refreshing ice cold wash which left me with glowing, smooth skin. I cannot
recommend this experience enough. It was my first successful experience with a
facial and I feel every woman should get to experience it in order to really
understand how it can change your skin.
I got a few samples of the products to take
home and play with and I now that I’ve finished most up I can give my honest
opinion about them.
The stand out product for me was the famous
Lotion P50W. This is a gentle,
balancing exfoliator that you’re supposed to apply daily to clean skin. I went
to town on this bad boy until Alexa told me to ditch the cotton and just apply
a few drops of product to my damp skin in an effort to save it and make it last
for as long as I can. I have to admit I had no idea how expensive it was but
after using it I can see why someone would drop the big bucks on this stuff. My
skin purged a little in the beginning and I had a few minor tiny dots but that
all cleared up when i introduced the Creme
Dermopurifiante which is a GODSENT for acne prone and blemish prone skin. A
week into using Lotion P50 my skin calmed down and turned into this amazing
skin I never knew I could have. Santa,
if you are reading this, all I want for Christmas is a tub of Lotion P50. I
have never experienced a product that visibly improved my skin this much in
such a short period of time.
Another product I enjoyed was the Creme
Masque Vernix, which is
absolutely incredible at restoring damaged skin; it’s like this hydrating,
repairing and nourishing miracle in a tub. I am known for going crazy with
exfoliators of all sorts and often take it too far and I never seem to learn
from my mistakes; this mask almost completely repaired my skin overnight after
one of those incidents. True story. Fun Fact: Creme Masque Vernix replicates
the vernix: the special layer that protects fetuses during pregnancy, with a
combination of ingredients that provide the same benefits to the skin.
In Montreal you can get a Biologique
Recherche treatment at Chambre des Dames. I cannot recommend it enough.
I was happy to see Alexa and I aren't the only people that obsess over the P50 Lotion and how amazing this stuff if. Check out this Beauty Editor article that asks if the P50 Lotion is the best product of all time. I'm gonna answer that for you: yes, yes it is.
