Like every other January for the past 5 years I patiently waited for the new Viva Glam Lipstick to come out and stalked every blog and Instagram account that had reviews and swatches trying to get an accurate description and an idea on what the color would look like. The anticipation of half the fun. Yet, when I went to the MAC store yesterday I managed to still be surprised, there's nothing like real life swatching.
VIVA Glam Miley is described as a hot pink with an amplified finish. The color is indeed pink, a bright, light fuchsia with a lovely sheen to it. Pigmentation is good, the lipstick applies well but manages to look soft and has a lovely luminosity to it. The formula is very creamy and it feels lovely on the lips. Amplified finishes are my favorite for this reason: they combine great pigmentation with comfort and lipstick has both. I have yet to test it for wear in a day to day scenario but last night it gripped the lips well and as it wore on it left a strong stain behind which is what I expect from a longer wearing lip product.
Overall, I like the new Viva Glam Miley Cyrus lipstick. I compared it to a few shades of similar fuchsia pink in my stash and I am happy to report that I have no exact dupes for it. It's quite a unique color and I find it to be a flattering, wearable soft fuchsia.
Don't forget that every cent of the selling price of Viva Glam Lipstick and Lipglass goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
