Valentine's Day is around the corner and so is the anticipated release of the 50 Shades of Grey movie. Make Up For Ever has a collection coming out with his lovely special occasion and I was lucky enough to get the Desire ME Cheeky Blush Trio to play around with and get my blushing on.
The set contains a blush trio hosted in a classical MUFE eyeshadow palette along with a travel sized Artisan Precision Blush Brush. It all comes with this gorgeous little velvet and satin pouch and that would be great for storing jewelry or other precious things.
The three shades includes a highlighter (I-526) a cool toned frosted pink blush (I-808) and another coral blush (S-748). All shadows are technically part of the Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow collection, which between you and I is one of the best formulas around; I had high expectations.
The highlighter is soft and buttery to the touch and it's very easy to pick up product both when finger swatched or using a brush. The blush is in fact an iridescent finish shadow so it does have a frostiness to it while the base color is a cool tone ivory with a pink undertones. As a highlighter this performs great, it kicks up just the right amount of product, it's smooth and blends well. I love how this product photographs, in real life it looks quite soft and natural but it seems to come to life in my selfies.
The brush is soft and dense and I enjoy using it to contour my face and to blend out the blusher on my cheeks. I prefer to use a fluffier brush to pick up and deposit the product and use this brush to work it into skin and precision blend.
The second blush in the pan is a cool toned pink with an iridisecent finish. The pan I got has very little pigmentation, it's almost like the color is packed in too well and it's quite hard to pick product with my finger let alone on a brush. The color reminds me of Nars' Orgasm, the pink base with a soft golden frost makes it look like the perfect cheek color, pink and glowing. Too bad I can't get it to show up on my skin AT ALL!
The third color in the pan is coral that leans on the orange side. It has a satin finish and has the perfect amount of pigmentation for a blush. The blush goes on sheer but builds up nicely and it's absolutely perfect for getting that natural flush. I am impressed with formula, it's so lightweight and it looks like skin as opposed to powder blushes that can look flat when you want to go for anything free of sparkle or glitter.
Overall this is palette would have been fantastic if all three shades would have performed well. I am not sure whether I got a bad bad batch but that pink shade broke my heart with it's lack of pigmentation. The highlighter shade is lovely and I am a huge fan of the coral shade which can look good on everyone.
