Clarins Everlasting Foundation Review

Clarins released a new a "reinforced formula" of its best selling long wearing foundation, Everlasting Foundation, to deliver "longer hold, improved comfort and flawless coverage, for 18 hours"! The new formula features a bamboo powder for its matifying properties and organic quinoa extract to reinforce the skin barrier that can give and exceptional hold under any circumstances.

The foundation falls in the category of high coverage, for me at least. The formula needs to be worked in fast to ensure even distribution, I like using a dense synthetic brush to help buff it in and control the amount of product and coverage I need in different areas of the face. I will go over the product with a damp Beauty Blender-like sponge to help even it out and pick up excess product. The satin finish has a lovely luminosity to it and the product sits well on the skin without looking obvious and heavy. My major issue with heavier foundations are that they can sit in and emphasize fine lines and pores but I never had those issues when wearing this foundation, it really sits well on the skin and it looks incredibly natural.
The formula wore well on me, my oily T-zone manages to stay matte all day long and my dry cheeks never felt uncomfortable. I experienced no breakouts or clogged pores with this foundation and I love how lightweight it feels and how natural it looks despite the pretty heavy coverage it provides.
The trick to making this foundation work well is prepping the skin before application with a nice moisturizer and/or primer. The formula will have a tendency to grab onto dry areas and in order to help it glide onto the skin and blend it you muse have a good base. I found the product pairs beautifully with gel like moisturizers and I like to make sure I use a hyaluronic acid serum to help hydrate my skin well, especially in the cheek area, which can get really dry.

Overall this is a great foundation. It manages to keep my impossibly oily T-zone under control, it provides good coverage and has a lovely finish to it. As long as you prep your skin beforehand and help the foundation help you, you are guaranteed to have a good skin day when wearing this bad boy.
