Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss Review and Swatches

Make Up For Ever recently launched a new range of lip glosses, Plexi-Gloss, a triple-impact lip gloss with buildable color and high-shine that stays put. The packaging is a sleek transparent tube that shows you the color of the product with a plain black cap. It has a sturdy feel to it and a pretty cool looking "superflex" doe foot applicator that not only scoops out quite a bit of product but gives you more precision and control during application. The range features 35 shades with various finishes, all colors having that high shine and vivid color while claiming to be comfortable on the lips.

I have four shades to show you today but first let me give you a general overview of what I think of the formula. The lip gloss has a viscosity to it that makes it unique, it adheres to the lips very well and stays put through the day. The formula does have a high shine to it and the coloured shades have quite a bit of pigment.  I personally found the lipgloss to be tacky once on, it doesn't feel sticky; this tackiness makes it stay on longer than a traditional lipgloss, it doesn't migrate or bleed outside the liplines even when generously applied. On a windy day I will get an occasional hair stuck to my lips but it doesn't have that gloopy feel I have experienced with other lipglosses. The only downside to these glosses is that they are best worn on their own as they don't seem to be the best when it comes to topping another lip product such as a lipstick. Due to the tackiness of the formula they don't slide well on the lips and can smudge a previously applied lip color or even pick up the product from the lip rather than just deposit the gloss. I will usually use a lip brush and mix the gloss in with a lipstick prior to applying it if I want to add shine and incorporate this product into my look; it's a bit more work but really worth it.

401P Pearly Red is a sparkly red with medium opacity; the gloss has very slight silver shimmer that in combination with the high gloss finish gives the lips great dimension and luminosity. 306 Orange (opaque) has a glossy finish with good pigmentation. This is my favourite of the bunch as I love the shiny orange look on the lips; it's a great summer color and it ads great dimension to my pout. 201 Light Rose is a milky pink that goes on very sheer on the lips. The pigmentation is very subtle letting the lip color show through and while adding shine. 100P Pearly Light Beige is a transparent nude with little pigmentation and gold shimmer. This is also a neutral color that lets the lip color come through unaltered while adding a touch of shimmer and shine.
