The queen of burlesque, Dita Von Teese herself, is gracing us Montrealers with her presence on Sunday, February 21st 2016 at L'Olympia and I can barely contain my excitement.
Renowned for her elegance and innovative thinking, Dita Von Teese has over two million social media followers, and has been turning heads since 2008 with her baroque, yet progressive performances. A perfect blend of seduction and fetishism, the world-famous retro fashion icon and burlesque artiste has worked with numerous international designers and artists. Dita Von Teese, who published her new book in early December, Your Beauty Mark: The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour, is combining her book tour with a series of international shows.
During her visit to Montreal this coming February 21, Dita Von Teese will take the stage alongside Lavender May and her Speakeasy Burlesque guests, who will round off the show with their famously titillating and exceptionally seductive striptease numbers. Lavender May, the founder and public face of Speakeasy Burlesque, has become a key figure in Montreal’s burlesque scene. Her popularity stems from her talent for visionary staging and a singularly tasteful eye for detail. Lavender May intends to make the visit of the greatest striptease star of modern times to L’Olympia one of the most memorable events in the city’s burlesque history, on a par with Lili St-Cyr’s epochal visit to Montreal’s Gayety that marked the burgeoning Montreal cabaret scene of the 1940’s.
