Summer is around the corner and I've partnered up with Dove, TRESemmé
, Nexxus and Shoppers Drug Mart to bring you two easy hairstyles that are
perfect for hot, sunny days for their summer 2016 To 'Do List, a checklist for
mastering this seasons hottest hair products and trends.
For the first look I chose a double braided pony which is not only
easy to do but perfect for hot days, a summer festival or when I'm just riding
my bike around the city, when I typically want my hair out of my face but still
want a chic style. I started off with freshly washed hair courtesy of the
Dove Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo and Conditioner which left my hair smooth and supple.
Before blow drying and straightening my hair I sprayed in TRESemmé's Heat Tamer Spray to help give my hair some texture and
protect it from the heat. I find a heat protectant spray to be essential, my
hair is processed and I love using heat styling tools regularly so I try to do
my best to protect my tresses and minimize the damage. Before starting to style
my hair I sprayed my roots with the Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo to help give volume and add further
texture to my fine hair. I love using dry shampoos to refresh second day, post
gym hair but also on clean hair, this trick helps control oil before it happens
and gives my hair so much volume and body.
I then parted my hair in half keeping a small strand loose while
french braiding the sides. After you're done, use the loose strand and thread
it in between the two braids and secure at the bottom with an elastic or bow.
This hairstyle is so easy to do and great for hot days when you want to keep
your hair out of the way and still look chic. Go to sleep with this hairstyle
and the next day you'll have the most amazing loose, beachy waves.
The second hair-style is so easy and on trend. Top knots are all
the rage right now and this version is just a little bit elevated with the help
of a braid. Start by braiding the top part of your hair and secure it with an
elastic. Then grab a few bobby pins and pin the end of the little ponytail in
to create a loose top knot. Feel free to grab a little more hair from the sides
and pin it in, this will add more volume to the knot and keep hair out of your
face. Voila! Business in the front, party in the back!
Both these styles are easy to achieve and having the right
products can just take it to the next level. It's essential that you care for
your hair with a nourishing shampoo and conditioner during the summer and
everyone that loves heat styling as much I do. Dry shampoo is a must all year
long, it can lift flat hair and add volume in an instant and during summer it's
essential to keep sweaty, greasy roots looking fresh and clean.
