Valentine's Day Giveaway: I love..., Colab Dry Shampoos, and 7th Heaven Masks

Valentine's Day is around the corner and as part of the Canadian Beauty Blogger network I got the opportunity to try out a few new goodies and give you a chance to try them as well.

Who doesn't love a good shower gel? The new I love... Vanilla and Ice Cream Bath and SHower cream is as delicious smelling as it sounds and turns into the most luxurious foam. The flavour is sweet yet delicate and doubles as an exquisite bath foam. You can find the line exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart.

One of my favourite beauty discoveries from last year, COLAB Dry Shampoos are expanding the line adding a Tokyo and New York Scent to the  range. I love the Extreme Volume formulas to add volume and help clean up dirty hair. I  actually like applying my dry shampoo in my hair before the gym to prevent any residue and allow it to seep in and work its magic while I work out.

Finally, everyone's favourite masks got a rebrand. Montagne Jeunesse are now called 7th Heaven, which I suppose is much easier to pronounce for those that struggle with French.

Now for the giveaway. You can win all of the products mentioned above. See details below. this contest is only for residents of Canada.

Back to School with Walmart:Expert Tips and Giveaway

COVERGIRL Make-up Pro, Veronica Chu; and Pantene Consulting Stylist, Justin German developed these back-to-school tips and tricks incorporating Fall’s hottest trends using products from COVERGIRL, Pantene, Olay and Venus.  Check them out below:

1.     Every great beauty look starts with a great regimen:
“Following a daily hair care regimen is the basis of great looking hair!  One of the staples of this is a shampoo and conditioner like the Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner – I love this collection because it’s designed to repair hair, control moisture levels and prevent damage for a soft, smooth, moisturized feel. This makes it fantastic for women who are always looking to recreate the latest trend whether it’s undone waves for a day out with friends or a slicked back ‘do for a night on the town.” – Justin German
“Similarly, great makeup starts with great skin. In your twenties, factors like stress and hormonal changes can cause skin to act out. To help combat this, I always recommend following a cleansing routine morning and night. One of my favourite cleansers is the Olay Total Effects Refreshing Citrus Face Scrub – the oil free formula won’t clog pores and cleanses without over drying.  – Veronica Chu
2.    Don’t forget to moisturize!
“Using a weekly hair masque like the Pantene Intensely Hydrated Masque can help maintain a healthy moisture balance in your hair, and minimize frizz by sealing your hair’s cuticle. It’s almost like “weather-proofing” your style so it lasts the whole day (or night).” – Justin German
“There’s a misconception that women with oily skin shouldn’t moisturize. In reality, if you match your moisturizer to your skin type it can help manage excess oil! For those with oily skin I recommend Olay Fresh Effects Satin Finish Lotion and for those with dryer skin I suggest Olay Total Effects Featherweight Moisturizer – the fast absorbing multi-tasking formula that’s lightweight and does the work for you with a seven-in-one formula.  Plus it has an SPF for added protection.” – Veronica Chu
3.    Just because you hit snooze, doesn’t mean you can’t be on trend:
“As we look forward to the fall season we’ve seen radiant, dewy skin transitioning from some of the top runways into a very wearable street-style look. The great news for young women is that this trend is all about a youthful glow that they already have! To help accentuate that glow, apply a small amount of Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizing CC Cream. The extremely light weight, oil-free formula allows for even colour while minimizing the look of pores.”  – Veronica Chu
“If you want a refined, on-trend look this fall that doesn’t take hours to create, simple sporty ponytails with accessories like silver bands neatly wrapped to cover your elastic provide a runway-inspired look in minutes. Headbands are also making a comeback this year, pair them with an undone-looking updo or chignon for a casual but chic look. Whatever your style, don’t forget to finish it with a light mist of Pantene Stylers Anti-Humidity Hairspray to keep the style in place all day through humid and windy conditions.” – Justin German
4.    Shade matching 101:
“When choosing a foundation, be sure to look at the undertone of your skin in addition to its pigment. One of the easiest ways to do this is by looking at the veins on the inside of your forearm – if they appear greener, you have a warm undertone, and if they appear blue you have a cool undertone. By considering this as well as your skin’s pigment, you’ll be able to find your perfect shade match. One of my favourite foundations for young women is COVERGIRL TruBlend – its water based formula provides more forgiving coverage so there’s a bit more flexibility, which also comes in handy when the seasons change.” – Veronica Chu
“If you’re wearing a coloured eye liner or shadow, and you also want to add in a bold lip, be sure that your lipcolour matches not only your skin tone, but also the colours you’re wearing on your eyes for a really well put-together look. My go-to for these situations is COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lipstick – the range includes 36 amazing shades so I know I’ll always be able to find one that works no matter what. For fall, I’m loving stained burgundy or berry lips. The stained trend is a really great way for young women to experiment with lipstick – instead of dragging the lipstick across your lip, lightly dab it on for a more subdued colour.” – Veronica Chu
As a Beauty United Ambassador I have the opportunity to bring you a Back to School Giveaway that includes a shampoo and conditioner from Pantene, an Olay BB Cream, Venus Razor, Covergirl Lipstick and a Mascara and a Walmart Gift Card to help you get ready for going back to school in style.

Paula's Choice The Nude Mattes Eyeshadow Palette + Giveaway

I thought I was over the nude palette trend given the fact that I have so many and only two eyes. I mean, there's only these many combinations of shadows you can have in order to achieve that natural no make-up make-up looks. Then, Paula's Choice The Nude Mattes Eyeshadow Palette landed on my desk.
In the era of chocolate scented eyeshadows and elaborate packaging, this palette seems simple at a first glance. The packaging is simple and made out of cardboard. The eyeshadows looked nice however, all matte with only one shimmer shade but I hate to admit it, the fact that I haven't heard any major Youtuber rave about it didn't get me as excited as I was for other famous nude palettes. I wonder why.
This palette was love at first use. Simple as that. All of the shades in the palette are matte with the exception of one and in my experience matte shadows are the hardest formula to work with. The formulation on this palette is incredible. The shadows are soft and buttery, pack great pigment without sacrificing blendability and the range of colors is the best I have yet to see in a nude palette. You have a great balance of cool and warm tones, light and dark, browns and greije... IMHO they nailed the color range. Nailed it!

It rarely happens that I fall so hard for a product but I honestly have nothing bad to say about this palette. There is no con. I even love the packaging, as simple as it might look, it's light and sturdy; I chose this palette as the only eye make-up to bring along while travelling in Europe last month and it was perfect.
To conclude, this is my most favorite palette so far. That's a big statement for me. It features the best formula I've seen on matte shadows and the best range of nudes I could ask for. I could go on and on raving about the formula and colors but I'll let the swatches speak for themselves.

When I was shipped this product there was a whole mishap with the shipping which resulted in me getting a second palette so I figured I put it up for a giveaway. Trust me, you want this!

Jet Set into Fall with Revlon: Be a London Lady! Giveaway

Revlon has challenged me to be a London Lady! They sent me a Passport to Revlon Colorstay along with a box filled with Colorstay goodies to recreate the London Lady look: a smokey eye with a natural lip. You get a chance to join me and recreate the same look by winning the same goodie box by liking my picture on Instagram here.

Let's get down to business.
I used the Colorstay ShadowLink in Charcoal all over the lid and dragged it out to create a soft cat-eye shape sort of smokey eye. I used the darker ShadowLink in Onyx in the crease and on the outer edge of the smokey eye to add more definition. After I got the shape down I used a clean fluffy brush to blend out the harsh edges and get that smokey effect.

I went ahead and lined the eyes with the Revlon Colorstay Skinny Liquid Liner in Blackout, framing the eyes and drawing another cat eye, dragging it under eye three quarters in. I used Charcoal to smoke the under eye line and soften it.

I completed the eye look with two coats of Bold Laquer Mascara in Blackest Black.

I used a Revlon Highlighting Palette in Peach Glow on my cheeks to add some color and shape my face and help pull ground the heavy eye makeup.
On the lips I used Revlon Moisture Stain in London Posh, a peachy coral with a frost finish.

My nails were a lovely shade of green thanks to Revlon's Gel Envy in High Stakes; a must have polish for this fall.

Here is the final look:

I had so much fun doing this look that I had to recreate it a few days later. I used pretty much the same techniques as above but added the new Revlon Photoready in Eclectic and used  the primer grey shadow which is absolutely sublime and added more oomph and dimension to the look, perfect for a night out, party or you know... a day when you just need to feel extra glam.

Don't forget to like my Instagram photo if you want a chance to win a box of Revlon Colorstay goodies to help you recreate this look.
Prize consists of :
One (1) ColorStay Moisture Stain
One (1) Bold Lacquer Length and Volume Mascara
One (1) ColorStay Eyeliner
Two (2) ColorStay Shadow Links
Two (2) ColorStay Gel Envy Nail Enamels
One (1) ColorStay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat
A Revlon Passport containing all the cities inspired looks featured in this program

Essence Gel Eye Pencil Waterproof Review, Swatches and Giveaway

"The latest trend: gel eyeliner in the form of a pencil. This soft, waterproof and long-lasting gel eye pencil comes in a retractable pen. Velvety and highly-pigmented, these pens offer intense colours in: Black Blaze, Around Midnight, Urban Jungle, Blue Lagoon, Gunmetal and Cocoa Bean. Available in a total of six colors."

It is no secret I love Essence and one of my favourite items from the brand is the gel eyeliner, which, in my humble opinion, rivals high end ones from MAC, Lancome, Bobbi Brown and the like. Naturally, I freaked out when I saw they added a new range of gel liners to their permanent line and I had to hunt them down after I managed to get my hands on one and swatch it.

The liners are come in an all black, sleek retractable pen. They swatch beautifully. They glide on with ease and are incredibly pigmented . The formula is smooth and transfers well onto the skin, you don't need to apply pressure or tug to get an opaque line. The gel mine is somewhat loose in the pen recipient and I have already had the tip of one pencil snap on me when I tried to rub it more vigorously on my eyelid. Bummer. This part is probably the major con about this product and this is where you can see the difference between cheap vs high end products. It's not a deal breaker but something worth noting.

I like the packaging and I like the formula. All shades applied and looked incredible with the exception of Urban Jungle (the green one) which seemed to have a drier texture and I had to apply more pressure to get it to transfer, despite the fact that it was my favourite color out of the bunch (deep green) it's fussy to work with. Black Blaze is a standard black that is creamy and wore well, Cocoa Bean is a dark chocolatey brown that performed just as well as the black while Blue Lagoon (deep blue with slight shimmer) had the best application, color payoff and durability. Around Midnight is a dark violet blue, I had no issue with color payoff and application but I found it the be the least long wearing of the bunch.

Wear time on these bad boys was great. Impressive. I left my swatches on my arm and went on with my day. 10 Hours later the swatches are still there with minor wear (more on Around Midnight) but no smudging or fading. Seriously impressive considering these liners go for $2.99. As creamy as they are when they go on they set and stay put no matter what.

Overall, thumbs up for these guys. Go get them, get all colors! Get some for your mom, your bff, your sister... I don't know how I'm going to ever purchase a high end pencil liner after playing around with these. I can get over the general poor quality feel of the pencils and minor issued I had with the mine wiggling out out of the container because well.. it is only $2.99 and it doesn't affect the quality and performance of the product.

As I was about to post this review a PR package arrived in the mail containing all the Gel Liners I had already purchased myself so I figured I share the love and give one of you guys an opportunity to test them out. One little note the PR package does not include the green (Urban Jungle) but it does have the grey, a shade I did not find at my local drugstore so... lucky you!
