Demeter Customer Blend. Lavender, Sunshine and Wet Garden

Lately I've been really getting into fragrances and experimenting with layering various products together to help create my own custom scents so I was pretty stocked when, as part of the Canadian Beauty Blogger network, I was sent a Demeter Kit that meant to be mixed and personalized.
The kit features three different fragrances and a spare, empty bottle, a funnel and a variety of stickers meant to decorate your own custom blend. The three fragrances I got were Sunshine, a warm sweet scent with a hint of vanilla, Lavender, a clean, fresh and soft lavender and Wet Garden and soft, earthy floral scent. The three mix surprisingly well together, the free spirit that I am I didn't really measure anything but rather just poured the three perfumes away little by little and mixed until I was content with the end result which to me, smells like a spring day. The warm notes of Sunshine hit you first, the warm vanilla pulls you in and is followed by the crisp Lavender and the fresh earthiness of the Wet Garden. The fragrance is light and soft and easy to wear, I find it perfect for a coffee run or just a casual work day, the mix is light and playful and proved to be quite a crowd pleaser among my coworkers. The downside is that like most cologne sprays these fragrances and blend fade quite quickly on my skin and have to be reapplied midday. The vanilla lingers behind nicely tho.
One thing is for sure, I am intrigued by Demeter and their clean yet amazing scents and I can't wait to get my hands on more scents from them. Any suggestions?

#ManiMonday : Lavender Nails with Kiss Nail Art Gold Accents

I am anxious for spring to come and as a beauty blogger I'm always all over the place with my colors and trends for the appropriate seasons. I'll usually wear vampy lips in the summer, pastels in the winter and holiday looks during fall. That's just a blogger thing. Always testing and being a season ahead. In the winter I am particularity eager top skip ahead to spring colors and fantasize about warmer months. This week I busted out one of my all time favourite nail polishes, a soft lavender by Avon. The brand has a strong line-up of really good nail polishes, I have yet to try one that disappointed me. They usually have fun colors, great pigmentation and fantastic wear and all these are true for Luxe Lavender, a soft cream pastel, perfect lavender. I actually have seen and had this shade released under different names in AVON so make sure you keep you eyes peeled on their range in case you can't find this exact shade.

My obsession with the Kiss Nail Art Tattoos  this time in Wisteria Lane. The stickers are so easy to use and so, so cute.

Lush Bath Bubble Bar in French Kiss Review

I just woke up from the deepest and longest sleep I've had in AGES! Why am I telling you that? Keep on reading!
I've had a very weird sleeping behavior this year. I think I've probably had about 5 nights of sound sleep. You know, the kind where you go to bed at a reasonable hour, sleep, dream and wake up in the morning refreshed and ready for the day laying ahead of you. I haven't really addressed the issue, I did try melatonin in the past and unfortunately it gives me very vivid dreams, well, nightmares to be more exact. I would sleep but I mean who wants to start the day the image of your ex fighting a dragon in an arena? Yeah, those kind of dreams. Weird.
Anywho, my lovely BFF Lisa gifted me with some LUSH Bathbombs and last night after I tried the "A French Kiss", my first ever "bubble bar for deep relaxation".

 A French Kiss
The bar dissolved nicely, unlike other bath bombs I have used in the past and filled the tub with foam. Kinda brought me back to my childhood. I managed to keep still and soak in the tub for about 10 minutes, which is a record for me! Got out and planned to do my usual night time activity: wash dishes, do laundry, blog, read, work-out, you know, typical after-midnight stuff for me. Next thing I know, 12PM and I have slept for over 12 hours. Thank god it was a Saturday! I woke up without any terrifying memories from nightmares and with baby soft skin.

I am not saying this bath bar is going to knock you out, I was very tired and haven't really slept the night before, but it managed to help me sleep on a night I know I would have fidgeted and only managed to catch fractions of sleep here and there. I am not saying this will treat your insomnia, but I tried taking warm baths before with lavender and bathbombs and stuff and never slept quite like this. It's awesome! I am hooked!

NOTD Lavender and Gold

I got lavender fever...

I paired up Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Lacey Lilac with Maybelline Color Show in Bold Gold and put a spin on the classic french mani. I love the results.
I already praised both polishes. Fantastic wear, fantastic colors, fantastic price.

Homemade Body Scrub

Here is an old favourite of mine, a sugar and lemon body scrub recipe.

It's cheap, it's easy to do, you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen cupboard already and most importantly... it's amazing.
You will need: brown sugar (works much much better than regular white sugar), lemons, essential oils and a carrier oil of your choice. The last two ingredients are optional. I chose lavender essential oil, because I love the smell, it's so soothing and relaxing and used apricot oil to smooth out my skin and add a little bit of moisture to the scrub.
The instructions are easy; dump sugar in a jar, add the juice from the lemons, add the essential oil and base oil; mix well; jump in the shower; scrub! Enjoy baby smooth skin.
The sugar particles are going to physically exfoliate, while the glycolic acid and citric acid from the lemons are going to do a bit of a chemical peel; melting and scrubbing away all those dead skin cells. The lavender oil is actually very soothing for the skin while the apricot oil moisturises the skin.
I like to use this scrub all over my body, but I particularly enjoy using it on my legs, it helps prevent dry patches, ingrown hairs and due to the scrubbing action of the sugar, stimulates circulation and targets cellulite.

Lavender eye

I saw a eye make-up look in Elle not long ago and it struck me. Ever since then I have wanted to recreate this look and see if I can pull it off.  Some girls get that with clothes or shoes, some people get that with houses, some with another person... I get that with make-up.
Anyhow here's the look, from Elle Canada:
and here's what I came up with; the big difference would be the eyebrows, I tend to have stronger, thinner and darker eyebrows.

What I've used:
Mac Painterly paint pot (as base)
Mac Beautiful Iris (all over the lid)
Mac Cobalt (the bluish lilac blended in the outside corners)
NYX, a matte pink I got in a 3 es palette
Loreal Voluminous Mascara (clumped on purpose )
Lise Watier Portfolio Concealer
Urban Decay Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizer in Halo
Mac Petticoat as blush
Clarins Lip Perfector
Nicole Virtuous Violet

I love the nail polish, a sparkle with a matte smooth finish, a very unique polish but as pretty as it is, it performs so poorly. I mean, this thing chips within hours of putting it on. I tried everything, applying a top coat, with the risk of taking away from the matte finish, avoid washing dishes, hell, I even took extra care when showering or washing my face... To my horror is still chipped. Within 24 hours half the nail polish is gone! Huge disappointment, but still a very very pretty colour.
