New from Annabelle: Spring 2014 Launch

Nothing says “Summer’s on its way” like a fresh batch of pastel cosmetics. Annabelle® is introducing 3 new shades of Big Show Lip Shine with 3 new assorted lipliners to complete its lip colour offering. In addition, Annabelle® innovates once again and launches the TwistUp Retractable Eyeshadow Crayon, the first retractable eyeshadow crayon to hit the pharmacies and mass retail stores. This spring 2014, paint your eyes and lips with Annabelle® Cosmetics.

Further to the success and great popularity of the Annabelle® TwistUp Retractable Lipstick Crayon, one could only dream of easy-to-use, true colours for the eyes as well. There is something highly seductive, and incredibly practical, about an eyeshadow that doesn’t need a brush to be applied. It goes straight from the bullet to the lid; full-on, radiant colour. Just take the cap off and paint your eyes in 6 of the new Annabelle® TwistUp Retractable Eyeshadow Crayon. All 6 pastel metallic shades go on very pigmented and may be softened for a more subtle look. These colours are so light and bright they should be called eyelighters instead of eyeshadows.

Key features:
-Pastel hues, metallic finish
-Creamy, velvety-soft eyeshadows
-No-stick texture
-Super-smooth application with a rounded tip that glides on the skin
-Long lasting (10 h stay-on power)
-Paraben free

The eyeshadow is applied directly onto the skin - no applicator necessary! It may be blended or softened with the fingertip or with a brush. Once it settles, it promises not to budge for 10 hours. Really, the only remaining thing to ask for would be more hues!

Fashion Beauty Panel: Natural Makeup Must-Haves

This week the Beauty Panel challenge was all about natural makeup. I am a huge fan of natural cosmetics and most of my skincare routine revolves around brands like Anne Marie Borlind, Suki, Weleda, Dr. Hauschka, Andalou, Korres and the like; I do have a few natural make-up faves I use on a regular basis but it's been a while since I created an entire look using exclusively "clean" brands. I was somewhat skeptical... I get stuck in this nasty rut and rely on a few key products such as foundation and eyeliners and mascara I know and trust and the idea of changing things up made me nervous. What is a natural mascara won't last? What if the eyeliner will smudge? Will my face look flawless without my trusty high end foundation?  I was more than impressed to see the overall look and see that the products did perform well. I feel silly for having so many prejudices against natural make-up now that I took the plunge and saw you can get awesome results while being good to your body.

Despite having a mostly all natural skincare routine, I rarely incorporate clean make-up into my day to day to routine. Can you blame me? I’m a beauty junkie and I can’t help but want to try all the make-up out there. This was a challenge indeed, as was nervous about creating a look using only natural products and I was pleasantly surprised with the results.
I started off by using an Anne Marie Borlind BB Cream, I am obsessed with this brand and their skincare. I used a Zuzu bronzer to contour and warm up the face and a Zuii peachy blush on the apples of my cheeks for a healthy flush. On my eyes I used a wash of a matte soft brown eyeshadow from Gabriel and a Logona Brown pencil as an eyeliner. I finished off with two coats of Gabriel mascara and brushed the same eyeshadow through my brows to fill in gaps and shape them. On the lips I am wearing a Zuii lipgloss.

Products used: Anne Marie Borlind BB Cream, Zuzu Bronzer, Zuii Blush in “Peachy,” Gabriel Eyeshadow, Logona Brown Eyeliner, Gabriel Mascara, Zuii Lip Gloss

Annie Young Cosmetics and a Brief Introduction to Ellis Faas Make-Up

Last week I  stopped by Annie Young Cosmetics, in Westmount to check out the store and get a brief intro on a brand they carry and that has been getting a lot of hype in the online beauty community lately: Ellis Faas. Claudia Pinto, trainer for the brand sat down with me, showed me the colors, the famous "bullets" and explained to me the whole concept behind the brand.
If you are a makeup junkie, you've probably heard Lisa Elridge and other beauty gurus show and mention Ellis Faas. All the make-up in cased in a bullet of sorts that can be slid in a larger cylindrical case. The idea is you pop in your bullets and you go. The case can host everything you need, in theory. You cave you foundation, concealer, mascara, lipstick eyeshadow, blush, all in cream form. A simplistic concept that can easily be incorporated in a beauty routine, because let's face it... I can't live with just those products alone. The packaging is definitely sleek and I was giggling like a little girl when I finally got to hold and play with the "magic bullets". Claudia did my eyes and help me overcome my fear of cream shadows. Every colour from the brand is inspired by the human body, with tones and shades that you can directly match to parts of you. Their famous red lipstick looks just like blood. Their green eyeshadow, like the veins on my wrist (guess that makes me yellow undertone huh?). It's not only a cool concept but it makes the brand easy to wear and kinda redefines the whole "naked" trend.

As for the store... ladies, go check it out! Annie Young offers all sorts of beauty services: from make-up courses, to manis, basic make-up application, waxing, eyebrows, hair... you name it!
They carry tons of cool brands from Kevin Aucoin, Belavance, Art Deco, to the Beauty Blender, Sarah Happ , Deborah Lippmann and tons of other skincare and bath brands.
