New and Incredible Natural Skincare Products You Should Know About

I am a huge fan of skincare items and try to go natural as often as I can. Over the past years I've seen the natural beauty industry expand and seriously step up their game, putting out amazing products with great formulas, beautiful textures and wonderful fragrances giving high end traditional beauty brands a run for their money.
Here are a few of my current favourite natural brands and a few items worth checking out.

Nourish Organics Argan Oil Balm
Meet you new best friend! You can moisturize your hands on the go with this versatile, handy balm. I use it on my cuticles, lips, hands, elbows or whatever area needs some TLC. The balm is so easy to apply on the go without getting your hands oily, the formula melts into the skin and does a fantastic job at moisturizing.

Saavy Naturals Coconut Wax Candles
Saavy Naturals is a new brand that puts out some exquisite products including these beautiful coconut wax candles.

Saavy Naturals Salt and Sugar Body Scrubs
These scrubs not only smell amazing but are made with food grade ingredients that will gently exfoliate your skin, leaving it so smooth. I also recommend you check out their soaps and body lotions. The Kukui Vanilla range is to die for.

Les Soins de Jacynthe Beauty Essentials
This Quebec company has some luxurious, all natural skincare items that are simple yet effective. I adore the floral water and use her serum day and night to moisturize my skin.

Bella Vita Miracle Balm
This balm is my go to for everything. This balm is my desert island item. I cannot be without it. I discovered it many years ago and I lost count on how many times I repurchased it. Packed with emu oil, comfrey, lavender, propolis and other great ingredients this balm moisturizes and repairs skin like nothing else. Hang nails, dry cuticles, rough elbows, parched lips, rashes, burns, eczema, psoriasis... this balm is a miracle worker due to the many incredible ingredients and their benefits. It lasts forever, it's super affordable and it has a million uses.

Fable Naturals Quinoa + Almond Exfoliant
This is not the first time I rave about this exfoliant on my blog and that's because every time I use it not only am I left with soft yet moisturized skin but I find the smell of it so uplifting. This exfoliant is great for those of you with dry or sensitive skin or if you want a gentle scrub that isn't harsh and won't leave your skin parched.

Mistik Shampoo
This Quebec based company puts out some great, gentle, natural hair care items. Their shampoo is gentle yet effective and I love using it to wash away my post workout hair as I find this product leaves my hair clean but doesn't over strip it. I also love using it as a brush cleanser. Good stuff.

Carina Organics Moisturizing Shampoo
When I need a little more cleansing power I often turn to this natural brand (also Canadian) of shampoos and deep conditioners to get my hair squeaky clean yet soft and moisturized.

Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil
This is one of my favourite facial oils that features one of my all time favourite superfoods: seabuckthorn. This berry is rich in vitamin and essential fatty acids that helps nourish and hydrate the skin. Their Face and Body Bar is pretty cool too.

Mont Echo Sea Buckthorn Cream Mask
I told you I like sea buckthorn. This Quebec company does some fantastic products based on the same superfood and this mask has been my favourite to help nourish and hydrate my skin overnight or after a more intense clay mask treatment.

If you're like me and suffer from achy muscles post workouts this stuff is the answer to your prayers. I dump two cap fulls of this stuff and some epsom salt in a bath and soak the pain away.

Some products provided for consideration. As usual, this does not influence my opinions and reviews

Dr. Hauschka Montreal Spa Experience

Last week I had privilege to go and experience a facial at the Dr. Hauschka Spa, located downtown Montreal. I am a long time lover of Dr. Hauschka skincare but I was always fascinated with the philosophy the brand has, how they respect nature and how every product is so well thought out. If I know one thing is that you don't just slap Dr. Hauschka stuff on, using their skincare line feels almost like a ritual to me, a ritual that needs to be adjusted to your skin and its needs.

Enaam Takla is the owner of the spa, an esthectician for over 34 years, we have her to thank for having access to Dr Hauschka in Canada. She started working with the brand years ago and it was love at first sight for both her and her customers. She saw how amazing the Dr. Hauschka treatments work, the it treats the skin while respecting it's integrity and she's been loyal to the brand ever since. Now you can experience a Dr. Hauschka treatment all across Canada and you can get their products at any Shoppers Drug MartMurale and health food stores. It was so inspiring to see Enaam have a spark in her eyes when she talked about the products, the brand and the journey that led her to Dr. Hauschka. It was inspiring to see how passionate she is about what she does and it shows. Just looking at her it made me swear loyalty to the brand, her skin looked flawless.

I had the lovely Carole welcome me and give me the Classic Treatment, the original Dr. Hauschka signature treatment, recommended for every skin condition. Carole examined me skin and determined what masks and products she will use for my skin.

The treatment beginning with a warm sage bath which is meant to ground you and activate your lymph circulation. Then she massaged my arms and scalp to help balance everything out. The facial was sublime. Lots of compresses infused with essential oils that send me into the deepest state of relaxation I've experienced. I remember sitting there trying to make mental notes of what I was feeling and smelling so I can describe the facial step by step but it's all a blurr now.

I remember Carole's soft hands gently pulsating my skin with what I recognized to be their famous Cleansing Cream then, more compresses, a soft lymphatic massage of the face, a mask, more compresses, another mask, massage of the neck and decollete ... it was pure bliss. When the facial was over and went to check my skin out in the mirror I was not only amazed at how bright and awesome my skin looked but at the fact that I could not stop smiling. All those essential oils did a number on me and turned me into this light, smiling, happy person the complete opposite to my usual fidgety, anxious self. The freezing January weather didn't bother me all day, work didn't seem as stressful, annoying people didn't get to me... it was truly amazing. I need a prescription for this treatment.

The Dr Hauschka Spa is located at 1444 Rue Sherbrooke Ouest, MontrĂ©al, QC H3G 2S8 (514) 286-1444 . I strongly encourage you go and get a treatment with an esthetician and take advantage of their expertise to see what products are suitable for your skin and learn to use them correctly. You won't be disappointedWhile you are there check out their natural make-up selection, I am digging the packaging and limited edition collections.

Fashion Beauty Panel: Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

This week the Fashion Beauty Panel challenge was stepping out of your comfort zone when it comes to makeup. See it here.

This year I’m planning to step out my comfort zone by trying to use more natural cosmetics. I’ve always been somewhat reluctant about trying green products due to the fear that they might not perform as well as traditional cosmetics and have limited colour selection and products.
Today I managed to use almost all natural make-up to create a bold look. I’m slowly discovering more natural brands that put out exceptional products that are, dare I say, just as good or even better than conventional cosmetics. That’s right, I won’t have to sacrifice performance and quality while going green.

On my face today I am wearing what I consider to be the best powder foundation, a holy grail for me: Zuzu's Dual Powder Foundation; I contoured with their bronzer and finished of with a healthy dose on Zuii Blush in Peach. The eyes are almost all Boho Cosmetics: a soft wash of Sable eye-shadow finished off with their black liquid liner and mascara. I accentuated the crease with a taupe shade from Gabriel Cosmetics. The focus of the look are the blood red lips for which I used the Boho Lipstick in Red Carpet, a matte intense red lipstick that I am kind of obsessed with at the moment.

There! I did it. I managed to create an all natural look with natural make-up and it looks surprisingly good, something I would have never thought I could do a few years back.

Products used: Zuzu’s Dual Powder Foundation, Zuzu bronzer, Zuii Blush in Peach, Boho Cosmetics Sable eye-shadow, liquid liner and mascara, Gabriel Cosmetics taupe shadow, Boho Lipstick in Red Carpet.
